Yudomari onsen (湯泊温泉) is one the two seaside onsens on Yakushima island (屋久島). It has a nice view of the ocean, and there is a barrier to separate the male and female bathers.
The water is lukewarm and thus, is probably a good option for a prolong summer soaking.
This was the first onsen I visited on Yakushima island. I had intentionally waited till sunset to try out my first ever seaside onsen, hoping to get an extraordinary experience.
And it turned out to be extraordinary indeed—extraordinarily cold! The water was lukewarm, and it was just not warm enough for a windy winter evening, with the last bit of sun fading beyond the horizon. Even while immersed in the onsen water, I was shivering like nobody's business, and I had to surrender within five minutes.
It was then that I realised why the person, who I supposed was the in-charge person, gave me a curious look when I was walking through the entrance confidently...
